The eponymous Groppenstein Castle keeps guard high above the Groppensteinschlucht Gorge. Resting impressively at the entrance to the gorge, the wise head with the five senses invites visitors to enjoy the trail with all their senses. After a short distance, the trail leads to the smaller Raufenfall Waterfall and crystal clear patholes. Mother Nature demonstrates her concentrated power and beauty at the Groppenstein Waterfall. An elaborated wood and stell construction is mounted directly to steep rock faces and guarantees a pleasant ascent - dizzy views down included. Viewing platform Zechnerfall Waterfall. Enjoy the clear, enriched air near the waterfalls.
Continue your hike through the Gorge to the Almgasthof Himmelbauer and enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of the Mölltal Valley form the terrace. Additional walking time approx. 1 h.
Or you can strengthen yourself after the round trip directly at the entrance to the gorge at the snack station with a playground for children.

On the way back, walk past the Groppenstein castle back to the entrance and starting point.

Continue your hike through the Gorge to the Almgasthof Himmelbauer and enjoy the spectacular panoramic view of the Mölltal Valley form the terrace.

After the Groppenstein gorge, continue in the direction of Lassach/ Mallnitz, through the Rabischschlucht gorge. Take the bus at the bus stop "Rabisch" or the bus stop "Lassach" and come back to the entrance of the gorge.

After the gorge, continue towards Lassach, from there you can take the Mallnitz federal road in the direction of Obervellach. At the Räuflach-Groppenstein junction, you will return to the starting point.
